Origins of Love
Aug 09, 2025All you need is....love. Right?
Well, maybe. If you have a proper understanding of it.
If you don't, you'll likely end up frustrated, disappointed, and possibly heart-broken.
If you already haven't.
There are three main aspects to love that we need to understand if we want to experience it the way it's intended to be experienced...the way we WANT to experience it.
This article is to give an overview of what is covered in more depth and detail in the course, Origins of Love, which can be accessed here.
First: You need a correct definition of, well, everything, but specifically love. Your definition may be close, but still leaving you with frustration and hurt. You also need an honest assessment of your expectations of those you are in a relationship with, what you need, want, and expect from them. Without these you set yourself up for pain and disappointment.
Second: You need to know the language of love...primarily from the one who IS love, then from the cultures that have shaped your perspective, expectations, and understanding of it. This is crucial, this is where most of us get off the path.
Third: You need to be able to adapt your expectations, perspectives, and understanding with the biblical principles in scripture. This is the hard part. This is where we let go, realign beliefs, learn new behaviors, but ultimately, have new experiences as a result. We all want the result, but you have to go through the process first. This is also where having a mentor quickens the process. Someone who has your back and guides you, helps keep you on track and not be infuenced, like you are, to your own blind spots.
Understanding the heart of love helps us experience it the way we want to, the way we are DESIGNED to.
